EVENTS AT VINTAGE VISION

Here at Vintage Vision we not only sell beautiful clothes but we also provide free sewing classes for everyone. We run our courses on a 6 weekly basis with the last one being yesterday. The members enjoyed the sewing courses immensely and it became a regular Wednesday afternoon social event with tea, biscuits and cake provided by Vintage Vision and the ladies themselves. They were taught how to repair and adapt dresses etc into vintage style clothes. The whole event was a huge success and we hope to resume the classes in September so book in early !

VOLUNTEERS

Well as volunteers go we are being treated extremely well here at Vintage Vision ! Not only do we get to volunteer at the best shop in Abergavenny, meet the nicest people and sell the most gorgeous clothes, we also get taken out on trips and are fed and watered before being returned safely home.
There are about 20 volunteers now in and around the shop and last Sunday 7 of us were taken on a fantastic day out in Cardiff to a Blind Lemon Vintage fare where there were several stalls of wonderful clothes for us to admire. Of course we all bought something for our own collections but it was amazing to see so many people who obviously love vintage fashion as much as we do! We heard some really interesting stories about the history of the clothes and this is often the case in the shop when customers donate items and tell us about their background. We have heard "I wore this on my first date with my husband", "I had this exact dress in the 60s but mine was in blue" and "Oh how I wish I had kept my outfit like this, I wore it to the Saturday afternoon tea-dance in 1953". Speaking of the 1950s have you seen the gorgeous Mad Men dress which we have arriving very shortly - hope it's my size !

Vintage Vision

Planning at trip to Wales? Make sure you stop by Abergavenny and pop into the Vintage Vision store. My name's Corinne and I run a blog called Used and Abused Vintage with my friend Mia. I adore vintage clothes and I have been known to spend far too long trawling the internet searching for the perfect 60s mini dress.

My mum (Marion) is one of the volunteers at Vintage Vision and she set up this blog to talk about the shop and her love of vintage clothing. I visited the shop for the first time yesterday and was totally in aweof how cute and pretty it is! Think floral vintage fabrics, 50s music, perfectly displayed antique hats and truly gorgeous dresses from the 30s right through to the 80s.

I literally spent hours running my fingers through the rails and rails of gorgeous donated clothing. There's none of that musty vintage clothes smell that high street shoppers avoid like the plague! Everything is perfectly displayed by colour on wooden coat hangers, and little trinkets and flowers are laid out on tables.

Growing up in Abergavenny I was always disappointed by the lack of available vintage clothing. I remember trapsing through the streets of Cardiff trying to find unique items that wouldn't set me back too much money. Nothing. But now there's this wonderful shop! If only it had opened 10 years ago!

Here are a few of my favourite items from the store for your perusal! Check out this gorgeous 50s dress with matching house coat. So Betty Draper!
