                              ABERGAVENNY/CHEPSTOW MUSEUM PROJECT

We had an amazing time last Friday morning, when we took a trip to Abergavenny Museum as part of the Museum Project.  As you can see the event was very interesting and the students came away with some wonderful ideas of things that they could make relating to the stunning vintage costumes on show.

This year our Summer Vintage Fayre is being held on Sunday, June 23rd from 10am until 4pm at The Market Hall, Abergavenny. Once again it promises to be a fantastic day with our usual vintage stalls, fashion shows and vintage cafe but this time we also have a photo booth and prize for the best dressed visitor.

The 22nd June is the 50th anniversary of the Beatles playing at The Town Hall Ballroom, Abergavenny and this theme will be reflected in our Fayre. The Beatles played alongside the Fabulous Fortunes and with tickets costing just 12 shillings and sixpence and late transport to Brynmawr, Crickhowell and Pontypool, who could resist.

Very Vintage Fayre

Bernadette and I had a great day recently when we attended a vintage fayre organised by Very Vintage at Cardiff Metropolitan University. We took vintage clothing, pretty crockery, handbags and kinky boots and £660 was raised for Dr. Barnados by the end of the day.

For Mothering Sunday this year we decorated our shop with pretty aprons, hats, jewellery and handkerchiefs.

Mothering Sunday or Mothers' Day is held on the fourth Sunday of Lent. It is exactly three weeks before Easter. Traditionally people visited the Church where they were baptised.

This beautiful parasol was crocheted by a renarkably clever lady who lives locally. She used a very old pattern that she found and won first prize at The Usk Show. After winning several times in a row she stopped entering so that some-one else could have a turn.

We are very sad to say Goodbye to Tracey and her family this year, as they are unable to provide and serve delicious cakes in our cafe area in the future due to work committments. Thank you so much for all the hard work you have done for Vintage Vision and good luck for the future.

K Shoes by Clarks of Street.

The 1960s made a radical break with the past. when London began to swing 'with it' or 'fab' places being Carnaby Street in the West End and the King's Road, Chelsea.
The 'sensation of America' came to Britain in 1961 when Chubby Checker's record 'Lets Twist Again' stayed in the Singles chart for 30 weeks. The Twist became the most popular dance of the decade - now couples danced separately.
These 'funky' 60s K Skips shoes by Clarks would certainly have been worn during these fab times and we have several pairs of them up for grabs at our Vintage Fayre in Abergavenny Market Hall, this Sunday.
